South Africa Under Attack!
Over the past few days we have seen major metropolitan areas, large ISP’s, Telecom Companies and even more disturbingly the banking sector come under attack by both DDOS attacks and Ransomware attacks, in some cases both at once.
For those that don’t know what a DDOS attack is, it is simply this, a hacker makes so many connections, orchestrating them from a multitude of different locations and sources, all at once, with the aim of bringing a critical server to a standstill and making it inaccessible to legitimate users. This type of attack is very effective as it makes it difficult to kill off the attack. Ransomware, on the other hand, encrypts all the data stored on servers and demands the company pay a stiff ransom, usually in the form of BitCoin to get their data back.
These attacks are happening more and more frequently and need to be taken seriously. Companies no longer rely simply on Firewalls and antivirus programmes to protect their data and that of their clients, it’s time to move to a proactive approach.
LucidView has been encouraging organisations for the last 14 years to ditch traditional signature based antivirus solutions, which can only protect against known threats, and replace it with Behaviour Based IDS/IPS which will ensure that even the most sophisticated hack it identified and killed off before it has the chance to wreak havoc with the data and accessibility of that data.
Behaviour based IDS analyses all traffic and looks for the unusual, the odd, the anomalous – it then kills off these connections immediately, preventing them from doing further damage. It is far more efficient at protecting against known, unknown and the always impending zero day attack.
We offer a portion of this solution for absolutely no cost, simply by using our rapidly advanced machine learning AI and blocking the category we call “Risk” companies are already ahead of the curve. Add the ability for our AI to kill off anything it deems an outlier, deviant connections or suspicious and you have a holistic and powerful IDPS solution that will render the recent attacks we have seen, harmless.
You cannot afford to ignore this. Please visit our website for more information. For more information on the attacks this weekend please read further:
